Vray 3.0 RT is super dark/ underexposed? was created by emartin8907
Hi,
I just upgraded to Vray 3.0 and now my Active Shade is super dark, as if the gamma is incorrect.
I am using SR 1.51 and it was working just fine with vray 2.4. Same scene, same gama and color mapping settings, super dark active shade.
is anyone else having this issue?
I am hoping it's something I am doing wrong and not a bug. I have tried everything I know to fix this though-
my gamma output is 1.0
SRGB button in Vray Frame Buffer is Off
Color mapping is Color only (no gamma)
and I have automatic gamma turned on in SolidRocks.
It comes out totally fine in the final render, but my RT window is like 5 stops too dark (basically un usable)
Any help is appreciated!

Hello; i'll make some tests tomorrow morning.
Some few questions first :
are you using the RT button located in SolidRocks ? this is the ONLY way to get correct gamma inside RT.
Are you managing gamma by yourslef ? or it's SR managing gamma ?

Yes I am using the RT button inside SolidRocks.
I have tried letting SR manage gamma (which I had in the past) and also managing it myself and there is no difference. RT actually displays fine without SolidRocks open.

damn !!
I've checked that so many times !!
but you seems right :
i just made a simple scene : RT seems perfect while in GPU mode.
But when i switch to CPU it render darker (!!??)
i investigate further to see if it's SolidRocks or Vray related...
would you please have a try in GPU (cuda) mode to see if you get same results please ?

Hmmm... same without SolidRocks..
there's a gamma difference between CPU and GPU..
I'm posting on Vray forums to see what's wrong
