Some requests !! was created by trick
After playing around a bit with some of my extremest scenes:

1. possibility to change settings of existing buttons + ability to save settings + ability to revert to original settings
2. possibility to add some user-defined buttons
3. scenes with many lights, many luminous surfaces and many glossy surfaces still render way too long with draft settings (4 minutes 640x480 on a dual quad 2,6GHz 16 GB RAM should be more like 10 seconds)
4. warnings or auto-adjustments to settings when scene/render complexity is going to crash when not enough RAM

and a convenient one:

5. next to a render button, also an apply button so I can use settings fast when rendering in viewport with RRTools (Render Region Tools)

Nice to know you've stressed SR with hard scenes...

1 - possibility to change settings of existing buttons.
If i understand well, you mean :
for example, you select medium 640*480 in SR, then go in Vray panel, make your personnal adjustements and \"save\" this new medium 640*480 config ?
After that, when you change resolution, SR will adjust your settings to choosen res ? This is what you expect ?

2 - you mean user defined render settings ? if this is the case, i think it's linked to your 1rst wish.

3 - Is this due to LC samples value (too high ?) ? if yes, i'll add it to bugtracker.

4 - i'm still working on it. B) But it's a complex task, which needs a big fiability.

5 - did you encounter different settings/bugs when not using SR render button ?
SR settings are normally made immediatly. the render button is just a render button.
I'll test deeper this case, and i prefer modify code, if necessary, to simply avoid the use of an apply button.
SR GUI is intended to be, and stay, as simple as possible.

1. I understand that the combination of both resolution and quality change the underlying settings. But then you would need to be able to also reset each individual combination. I think that would make it too complex...
2. It would be better then to have one or two user defineable combinations for both resolution and quality settings, which would result in only 2 more buttons in the quality column. The user would have to \"program\" all settings for all different resolutions.
3. I think it would need complex scene analysis and some smart programming to automatically adjust settings depending on all the things that could impact rendertimes. It would also be best to let this be done by the user, and make these two buttons mentioned above with save and load features.

1- i agree, it would be too complex, and we will loose in simplicity
2- interesting. but \"programming\" all different resolutions seems to be hard task... To simplify, the user could perhaps adjust settings for 2 different resolutions, so SR can \"learn\" differences and auto-adjust for all other resolutions.
is this a good idea ?

3- Adding a power user rollout, with more manual settings access, and other experimented Vray users stuff, would be great. Like this, users who just want very simple approach won't be disturbed.

I have been playing around a bit some more and this is what I would like to see:

When starting SR settings are instantly changed: but some settings stay as they were before, like the save IRR/LC-maps to file, the render final image switch and some others. It would be better to reset all settings specifically for the preset buttons and to have an option that restores the settings you had before starting SR. However on opening SR the render size should only change AFTER choosing a size in SR, so initialy it keeps the size you had before opening SR.

If for some reason it is not possible to restore your own settings afterclosing SR, it would still be better to reset everything on opening SR, and save your own settings in MAX itself. This way SR can be used faster fo making previews.
