Planning a camping trip to Liwa next month, gathering safety must-dos

A few of us are finally locking in dates for a desert camping trip to the Liwa Oasis next month. It will be my first time driving that far south, and I know the road conditions and heat can be pretty intense. I am starting to compile a list of everything I need to do to my 4x4 before we go. It is one thing to drive around the city, but a long desert drive is a different story. I have been reading up on general  road trip vehicle safety tips , and things like checking tire pressure and tread depth seem even more critical when you are heading into the Empty Quarter. I am also planning to check all my fluids, especially the coolant, and I might even get the AC system checked because I cannot imagine being out there without it working properly. For those of you who have done this drive before, what are the most important prep items I should have on my list? And what should I absolutely pack in an emergency kit for that kind of remote drive?
