hi jerome, im happy with your product, im already implemented in my current production :), but as the title says there are many questions that i want to ask you.

1.HSph. subdivs, how can i change the number? i've tried directly on render setup but of course when i when press RENDER! goes back to what SR config stablish, (IM-Real Hsph 72 - Interp 24 ;Q=very good), on edit mode there is no value to edit. If you could tell me it would be great, the reason, why im asking is that im doing some interiors and i have some mirrors, the reflections looks kind of crappy, i solved in the past by just increasing hsph to something like 200.

and now some bugs?

2.when i choose clay tool, some materials dont override and just keeps with the same material that i already aplied.
3.the bucket size shoul be editable, you know is right when you have 1 pc, but kind of useless when you have 4 pcs like me, 2 i7 and 2 core2duo, hehe. this is because the slowest ones can help to render some buckets :D
4.i always do the follow: F10 (or go to the max button), press custom botom SR, if want to change render size directly on SR and hit RENDER! it doesnt change, if i hit cancel, and change it again, works, ...why doesnt work on first time?...well continuing so every time i cancel or let the render finish i have to go back to change gamma 2.2 to 1.0 on color mapping exponential (this have been flag from what i read in this forum, hope that you could fix it, later below i'll tell you my gamma correction workflow), and the render panel just disapear if i look the max button it shows me that its already press, so i have to hit it twice, one to disapear (the already disapeared window :S ) and appear it again.

my gamma correction workflow

max2009
customize>preferences
gamma and LUT tab
chek on enable gamma/lut corretion
check on load enable state with max files
gamma 2.2
materials and colors
check on affect colors selectors
check on Affect materials editor
bitmap files
input 2.2
output 2.2

vray
color mapping
gamma 1.0 exponential

If you could adress me on the right direction specially on the first item it would be great.

thanks :D

Hi Pedro, nice to know that now SR is apart of your workflow ;)

I'll try to answer clearly.. !

1) you need to manage this value via a new/modified solidrocks preset.

click on the "edit" button located on the right of preset dropdown list.

As you know, Hsph value is strongly tied to Global multiplier value.. for example 40 Hsph with a global mult = 2 will apply a "real" HSph value of 80 at render time (40*2).
To avoid this math gymnastic, solidrocks make for you this computation and ask you for your desired final (real) Hsph value. SR will apply the correct HSPH value according to the global mult to give at render time your desired hsph value.

So into the preset editor, put you desired values for medium and prod quality (for examle, in your case, 60-200). SolidRocks will compute automatically the other values (low, good, very good and ultra).

Give a new name to the preset at bottom of the editor, for example (interior - complex) and hit "Save SR preset" button.
Back to solidrocks, verify that the new preset is selected.
Now SolidRocks will render with YOUR desired Hsph values ;)

2)At this moment Clay tool considers only Objects wich have Vray material applied (and multis with Vraymats inside). Objects with no material applyed or non-Vray material applied are ignored. 2D geometry is ignored, too.
I'll improve this tool for the next build ;)
In resume, to use it, allobjects in your scene needs to already have a Vray mat applied. (it can be a fast way to see objects with no Vray mat applied).

3) You can manage bucket size into the solidrocks configuration panel, but perhaps it's not enough for you...
I've managed bucket size into solidrocks because of two things. First, SolidRocks computes the bucket size to avoid truncated buckets at the image seams. Second, SR try to keep visually consistent the bucket size when switching between tiny and large resolutions. Without solidrocks, sometimes in 6000*4000 buckets have suddently a ridiculous tiny size, and at 640*480 there are enormous...
I'm really open to talk about this feature and make some improvement to feet your needs, no problem ;)

4)well i just tried : hit F10, run SR, change size in SR and hit render! button. All is going well, and SR reolution is applied... damn i can't see the problem, as it just works well here. What max version are u using ?

Well that's not a good idea to try to change gamma value into the vray panel while SR is open... as Sr will override your value !

Anyway, there are some troubles here in SR, i need to cleanp my code to remove these bugs. this will be the very first thing to be corrected.
I'll post a new build as soon as this gamma problem is solved.

hi jerome, thanks for a fast reply

let me see

1&2 ok, now i get it :)

3. For what i've been doing 16x16 or 32x32 works just fine on 4k, but i'll run some tests to make this clear.
4.yes, and now its a common issue, i uploaded a screen capt video so you could see it too, just let me know once you have it. max2009x64 vray 1.5sp4a
www.psolano.com/Proyectos/imagenes/solid_rocks.avi

5. Anoter issue comes randomly , its number puntuation, it swith between "." and "," i set on windows 7 x64 ".". This happens when SR is active and affect max too,but , if isn't active, works as usual.

Its a great product jerome, im happy with it, but nothing its perfect and i hope that with these comments you could improve it :)
