if you're in a rush, you can make an archive of your scene, send it to me, i'll do your render
Thanks for the offer
as I said closing SR removed the handler exception. render timer still froze sometime, but no handler exception. so there is some chance, that eventually it would have finished.. couldn't take the risk though. even if this is a ram issue it has some thing to do with SR and the different stages of the render.
Anyway
eventually I did it using blowup (rendering 4 X 1/4 part of the scene and apply sr on exit) the only problem I couldn't get the SR gamma correction the apply (even when setting save to file prior2render).
can you please explain the procedure of using SR with blowup and region selection? so I don't lose the great color balance next time? (I saw a region tab on the SR menu, couldn't figure it out though..)

ok. note that SR takes some RAM itself to run.
perhaps can you try to play with the maxscript ram (increase ?) in max preferences, maxscript tab, to have a try ?
this button is made for the max VFB, and is some kind of "override". If on, whatever the region settings made in max, then region will be on. If off, it renders full image whatever the settings made in max VFB. that's a request of many users to avoid forgetting the region, wich is really strange in max2009.I saw a region tab on the SR menu, couldn't figure it out though..
why blowup ? it's some kind of zoom, and i don't figure how you truncate a too big render with this option. anyway, to use it, you need to switch to off the region button in SR.can you please explain the procedure of using SR with blowup and region selection? so I don't lose the great color balance next time?
region on/off is managed by the SR button.
i haven't had problems with region and color balance.. can you post some examples ?
