Bucket size was created by avicohen2k
Sorry for being such a pain this week
Just lost a 3 hour render after light cache do to the handler error (btw according to the listener it was on SR script).
most renders survived when I turn the vrayframebuffer off. but I have one really huge detailed render I need to do really fast before my presentation and that's not enough.
I read something about the bucket size as well. does this has something to do with rendering memory? how (and to what amount) does choosing different bucket size affect in render size, time, quality and stability?
what should I choose and why?
Thanks in advance,
Avi.

Hi, Avi,
the most tiny is the bucket, the less ram it takes (but render can be a little bit longuer)
so choose the smallest bucket size possible in your case.
you can also make it even more tiny manually directly in Vray prefs.
You can also try in SR preferences to hide IM and LC passes to gain a little bit more of RAM.
but, imo, making huge renders with 2GB ram is a difficult exercice, whatever if you use SR or not...
try to lower the quality, or manually modify the LC preset and give a bigger LC sample size to avoid ram consuming (ofr ex 0.01 became 0.02). Same thing for irrmap, you can modify -4-1 to -4-2 to have less IM samples, and by the way less ram used.
try to play with the ram options in Vrya, too...
a last thing : make your render 1/2 size, and double it in photoshop + sharpen filter, usually works well

I am aware that this might not be an SR issue but I have great respect for you and since any action I take will take SR into consideration I ask about it here as well
(I also ask and look at the cgarchitect forum, but maybe you have some insights regarding SR)

for most renders I lowered my res and used a great software I have for cleaning noise and renders. this big one is a deep-perespective section thorugh the bulding which I want to show at 1:250 scale (1 meter wide) so I need all the detail crisp clear.
Right now I did the /3G switch lowered the bucket size turned all viewports to wireframe and am monitoring my ram (which accually isn't going above 1G even.. lets hope it stays there..)
if all fails I will have to start thinking of lowering the rest, I guess..
thanks for all!
