IRmap / LC on render farm? was created by fraggle
Bonjour Jerome,
I red a post from you on www.3dvf.com/forum/3dvf/V-Ray-Rendu/calc...eurs-sujet_212_1.htm.
Your answer is conflicting with the Chaos group one : help.chaosgroup.com/vray/help/150SP1/tutorials_imap2.htm
More particularly this sentence "It must be calculated on a single machine. This is because we will use the Multiframe incremental Mode for the irradiance map"
There is another point that are not clear: "Passe 3 : Uncheck don't render final image, irrmap en "from file", GI en IrrMap/none"
Why calculate the LC as secondary bounce if we don't used it for the final pass?
How can the LC be embeded into the IRmap and when?
I do have a small render farm and I really would like to used all the slave for the IRmap computation but I really have some doubt because the info are not matching between your post and Chaos group and because the Flywiz auto 1+2+3 failed on my render farm (adaptor error blablablabla...)

hi, sorry for delay, i just missed your post.
i couldn't found the original post (404)
well probably it's an "old" post. I'm learning every day
in fact, with actual vray, i think you can use the Vray distributed rendering for distributing irrmap on several slaves. (using vray spawner)
if i remember well, older vray versions just crushed the irrmap file hen using ditributed with vray (not sure).
But, i also believe that it's dangerous to use backburner for this as every frame will be launched on a machine, and IM will not be computed in the good order, and can produce a mess. Same for crushing irrmap file.
We need to check this to be sure and give a "real" and updated answer on that point.
I guess you can do it safely with no backburner but vray network rendering activated.
About lightcache :
As far i know LC is stored into irradiance map if you uncheck "use light cache for glossy rays".
