tough interior scene very noisy.. was created by emartin8907
Hi,
I have a pretty tough render scene that I can't seem to clean up.
It is a tunnel that is only being lit by 1 long vray mesh light (consisting of many tubes that I attached together to create one object before making it a mesh light)
Was I right in making all the tubes x1 vray mesh light rather than a whole bunch?
What else could I do to speed things up/ clean things up?
It's currently taking a very long time with materials on with these settings, and I am still getting unsatisfactory amount of noise. I am okay with horrendous render times as this is for my personal portfolio and I have machines to spare as long as I can get clean renders.
I would love to be able to motion blur this as well, as it will be a car in motion shot. But I think I will just render the scene without the car in place first, then render out an hdr dome from the cars position, then use that hdr in hdrlight studio to light the car and render it separately and then blur the 'backplate' in virtualrig. I would love to render real motion blur as I have fully rigged the car throughout the tunnel and have already linked cameras to the car, I really don't care about render times. But again, noise is a huge issue and I can't even get a static shot clean right now much less deal with the problems motion blur introduces!
Any help is appreciated, any render presets that I should try out that might be on these forums would also be appreciated I looked but everything seemed to be pre- vray 3.0. I should also mention I am using vray 3 max 14

doooh ! i simply missed your post !!
i really apologize for that !
smtp troubles 2 weeks ago on smtp services made me miss some posts and emails. Now it's solved.
Again, sorry for this lack of answer.
I would say exactly the same thing : uncheck proba lights.
I was pretty sure it's a time gainer (was the Chaos sound)..
But finally it don't as it add some grain in beatu pass, and much more in other passes (reflection, etc.)
if the problem is still there, feel free to send me a scene, i'm working on preset optimisation at this moment

No worries! I thought it may have gotten lost in the spam, there was a lot the other week that now seems to be gone- glad you were able to take care of it!
I will test it tonight with proba lights on and off and post back the results.
Thank you!!
