Bruteforce noisy

Hi,
I just saw 1.8 is out, will test it. But here's my 1.7 render.
I used biased BruteForce. Since I'm on vray 2.5, I used vray 2x SpecialBruteForce preset, is that correct?

Quality is on Ultra, and look how noisy it is.

I always apply settings and exit, and then render from MAX, since I usually have several frames (camera positions, not a real animation). So can I in adjust a certain setting in MAX further? What would you increase to clear the noise?

Thanks...but I still see special bruteforce preset on 1.8.
Do you mean I don't have to use it but it's still there?

I'm on vray 2.5 so I use all the 2x presets, right? Normal ones are for vray 3?

Oh! Did not know that can happen. How can I perform a "clean install"? Maybe some other things are leftover.
