trying to test was created by debneyink
Ive just bought sr and am trying to render my scene file but it crashes everytime i do! I'm experienced with vray and max. Its fine in the vray renderer, its a big file but isn't that the point?

okay but its a bit late for me to go in and change my materials! the vast majority are vray with reflection, but i have some standards with self illumination and opacity (a neon sign look)
and theres a lot of them. what materials are considered bad with SR?

hello, debneyink
Very sorry for the problem.
Let's try to solve it fast :
Please can you precise some things ?
- i assume you're using 0.52. Right ?
- can you tell us the kind of error you encounter ?
- are you trying to render in a very large resolution (Lightcache memory issues ?)
- do you think it's a memory issue ?
- are you in 32 bits or 64 ?
- what is your ram size ?
- what are you max/vray versions ?
- are u using VrayFrame buffer or max Frame buffer ?
i can propose you some solutions :
- try to render with hide IM and LC passes ON (it saves memory)
- using Max Frame buffer will save memory, too.
- try to make your render in low mode and see if it works --> if it works, but don't works anymore in medium or good or.. then it's probably a ram issue. if yes, you can try to use the /3GB (if you're in 32bits). I can help you for that if you need.
- if you think it's a material issue, try to uncheck the "optimise materials and lights" button, and see if it helps.
- if all is really bad, you can swith to dynamic geometry (vray system panel)
- try the new 0.75 private beta ! (Lightcache is less important than 0.52) just send me a mail at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you want.
Hope it helps,
Again, very sorry..
