A little preview window of the rendering would be nice. So we get a rough overview about the lighning and so on.

good idea !
i'll see if there is a way.
i'm working on a 1/2 res render button, too, near the render button, to speedup things even more. it will be coupled with the new resolution button \"fit background image res\".

Hi I dont know wich programming language you use (C++ ? )
But maybe a funktiion like
catch Max render window would do the trick ?

for instance, maxscript only.
i'm working on this kind of tool, which provide very fast mini previews.
but a combination of \"preview\" mode and 1/4 res render can do the job, don't you think ?
