I have had the same problems... with noise.
I have found the problem.
If you have a map/texure in the Rglossiness of your material, then SR wont understand that. you can make a test. make a material with a map in Rglossiness and render it with the option interp. gloss in IrrMap (if <=0.8) on. as you see the glossies are noisy.
now disable the map in Rglossiness of the material. I bet you haven't lowered the Refl. glossiness number and it's still default 1.0. lower it to below 0.8 - render again. nice and clean!
It took me a while to figure it out, but finally it's logical. SR can not get the right glossy value out of the map/texture. if it could then it may interpret greyscale values...
conclusion.
you always have to lower the Refl. glossiness value to a similar value as the texture itself glosses.
