"store with IR map" for lights question.... was created by amitshneor
Hi !
is there an advantage in using this method in SR ?
does the "store with ir map" option makes the render faster ?
and when i use it, it seems that i need to boost the intensity multiplyer a lot more .
also, will there be a tutorial on the flow of using SR ?
i mean, when to start using it,after making all the lights and materials? from the begining of the creation of the scene?
and so on....
Thanks
Amit.

Hi, Amit,
sure there's an advantage !
let's take a classical example : interior render of a house.
usually users place some vray plane lights at the openings (windows) to help lighting the scene.
sun+sky are often not enough to make decent lighting, or it force you to low down camera fstop and or shutter speed, leading to overburn the exterior parts.
With all these vrayplane light at the openings, rendertimes will increase a lot due to the sampling of all these lights.
the option "store with IM" + "planes only" will tell to vray to add to irrmap these openings skyportals because there are mainly here to boost light, and not to gives perfect shadowing. on the other hand, other lights in the scene will be samples in a traditionnal way (spots, ies, vray sphere lights) etc..
concerning the darkening, try with the last SR build (21/02/2009) and see if it helps
