Question on Gamma 2.2

It's nice to me! ;)
Just don't forget that even the user has to click sRGB button in VFB, the mini preview in SR is affected by gamma correction (shows a gamma burned image)

I'm not sure why someone would like to have a gamma bitmap input value selector too. It should also follow the chosen gamma value for a corrected workflow. Keep it as is currently.
Thanks!

what about the \"don't affect colors - adaptation only\" checkbox? ...I mean, to keep gamma 1 but to avoid grain in dark areas?

a.

Hi, Electric flute !

I'm polishing the new SR build, and i've added your suggestion for Vray VFB users.

new option in SR :

"Vray VFB 2.2 LWF gamma option" have 2 choices : "Bake in CM" and "Use sRGB button"

For security reasons, it works only when gamma correction is ON and have 2.2 value.

soon, soon ;)

I just got the new version and it is great! I have a question regarding LWF and SR.

I use LWF and my preferences settings are:

-Gamma/LUT Correction Enabled
-Gamma set to 2.2
-Affect Color Selectors and Material Editor are enabled
-Input Gamma 2.2, Output Gamma 2.2

Then in Color Mapping I use Linear gamma set to 1.0.

These settings make my colors and materials all matchup in editor, viewport and render. I then use
the sRGB in the VFB to correct.

How would you suggest setting Max's preferences and color mapping when using SR
with LWF? And what settings would you use in SR along with those settings?

Thanks

Hi, dan
Hmm first thing : SR don't manage bitmap output gamma value. All other values (display gamma, bitmap input gamma) are managed by SR.

i'm not sure about color mapping linear gamma 1.0. I have to make some tests.

But i think than you can try the following in SR0.75
whatever your max gamma values,

- launch SR, and activate "gamma correction" --> 2.2
- for use of the Srgb button to show gamma, just check, too, the "Later" button.

The later button avoid 2.2 gamma to be baked into the final image, letting user show it via the srgb button, or apply 2.2 gamma "Later" in post production (combustion, After effects, photoshop, ...)

That's it ?
