First thing that hits me is actually the textures and materials, as being a bit on the \"lazy\" side as you mentioned yourself.
And maybe turn on the lights hanging there to create some interesting lighting aswell?
Maybe bever the corners aswell, they seem very very sharp.

hmm.. your \"lazy \" textures looks - at least - too big !
Try to reduce them a little, it can help (some bump, too)
Try cgtextures.com for nice wood maps.
and, why not STGPRO (seamless texture generator pro)
I've buyed it some weeks ago, and it really save my life, at cheap price
I would suggest some fruits on table, or simple vegetal, to give a human touch in this pic.
Some fast and simple chamfers here and here can help to avoid crisp and aggressive look to table & chairs.
why not a litlle gamma correction with solidrocks at 1.5 to raise up dark zones ?
