SOLID ROCKS FOR VRAY 5 and MAX2021

Well if you're taking requests, would it be possible to get a button for displacement - on/off?

Is there anyway of giving a rough indication of when the max2021/Vray 5 version might come out? I know there's a lot to look at but are we talking weeks, months etc?
I'm about to move up from max 2019 and I'd like to go straight to 2021 and VRay 5, but without your lovely plugin, I might have to go for 2020 and stay on VRay next.

I am also interested about binarydownload's query. Any estimation of the primary release? There may be later updates but a workable version for V-Ray 5 is very necessary for the Solidrock lovers like us. I shifted to vray 5 and came back to Vray next just because Solidrock doesn't work with it.

Try this:

1) In VRAY NEXT, choose the SR settings you want for a particular render for example IM/LC + Interior + Good + whatever else you want

2) Go to VRAY Render Settings – Settings – System (Advanced) – Presets and save your SR settings as a preset (e.g. ‘Good Interior’). This will save all the SR settings to the vray.cfg file.
3) Repeat the process for all the SR presets that you use (I only ever use Medium and Good..!). You should now have saved a bunch of SR presets saved in the vray.cfg file.

4) Install Vray 5 and replace the new vray.cfg file with your VRay Next ‘SR’ version. You should – in theory – now be able to load in your required SR preset for the presets button in the system tab.

I have based all this on the assumption that VRay ‘5’ will accept the Vray ‘Next’ cfg file.

Maybe you (or someone else) could try this and report back?

The other thing to do is contact Chaos and ask them to replace the % sliders on their Quick Settings with sliders saying 'preview', 'low', 'medium', 'good' etc. I have no idea what % I need for a draft, medium, production render etc. Does anyone…?
AND/OR
Ask Chaos to provide a bunch of pre-saved presets in the Vray 5 cfg file so that we can then load them in.
If enough of us ask, they might listen (I’ve already contacted them).

I’m NOT suggesting that this is a replacement for SR, but just a temporary fix until our beloved plugin is updated.

Thanks binarydownload, very interesting technique you suggested. I will definitely try it soon when I'm not amidst any project.
By the way, The Vray quick setting is no match to SR. SR is stupid proof anyone can create great renders with SR . With vray quick setting I failed to get good render time without introducing noise.

VRay settings are a 'dark' art. Everyone has different ideas.
The Chaos tutorial only talk about adjust 2 settings...
I don't know why Chaos make it so difficult.

I've just read on another post that the latest SR works with Max 2021, so that's good. I can at least upgrade to that.

Yes I use SR in max 2021 and Vray next 4.3
