We run a mid-size electrical contracting outfit and our guys wear hi-vis daily. I want the company name and logo on it, but I've been told adding decoration to safety apparel can affect its rating if it's done wrong. That sounds like something I shouldn't guess at. Does anyone here brand safety gear, and how do you handle it without creating a compliance problem down the road? We've got about thirty people in the field and I'd rather get this right the first time than discover a problem during an inspection or, worse, after an incident on a job site.

It's a real consideration, not vendor caution. Decoration on hi-vis has to respect the background material and reflective tape coverage, so placement matters and you can't just put a big logo anywhere. Embroidery is common on these because it doesn't obstruct reflective material when placed correctly. We had ours done by PromoBox; their Apparel Printing & Embroidery Services  people knew the placement constraints and kept it off the tape. Worth confirming that whoever you use has done safety apparel before rather than treating it like a regular polo. Keep one unbranded set as a comparison for any future audit questions.
