How do people actually live through a kitchen remodel? was created by soumitss
How do people actually live through a kitchen remodel? We've got two kids and both of us work from home, and the idea of six to ten weeks without a kitchen is honestly the thing making me hesitate more than the money. Is there a way to phase it, or do people just set up a microwave in the dining room and accept it? Any practical advice from people who've survived this would help. We've also got a dog who does not handle strangers or noise well, which is another logistical wrinkle I haven't figured out how to solve yet.

Most people set up a temporary kitchen somewhere and accept it, and honestly that works better than phasing, which drags the disruption out much longer. Practical setup: fridge relocated to the dining room, microwave, electric kettle, and a plan to wash dishes in a bathroom or laundry sink. Paper plates for a few weeks is not a moral failing. Working from home is the harder part, ask about daily work hours upfront. When we did
