I have 3dsmax 2013 x64 + vray 2.30 (Windows 8 x64). Rarely, but from time to time I see broken material links in scenes. But I cannot reproduce this bug to give you more info

You're right ! BUt, 0.99.8 had some problems with materials, and somtimes breaks completely the scene.
In addition, he didn't parse all materials, when nested deeply (vray material in vray override in multi was not parsed). Now we've made some new recursive algorithms wich never crash and parse ALL materials in scene.
We're trying actually to create a "miw" of this 2 algorithms to have the both benefits. It's a little headache
But we'll find the way :!
