you might want to try "super render" script:

thanks nickz!!
been looking for some thing like this, a network render on a single computer?
Trying it now.
How does it work with VRAY & SR ?
can you give me some tips on it?
EDIT: this is a vray question but how does low thread priority affect render time & crashes?
it sets the render as a lower priority probably giving the cpu some air (and not so prudent to crashes?) but on the other, does it slower the render time? max won't use the full cpu power on the render? resulting in up to say twice the render time?
(Im using a 2duo core but I'm looking for a more general answer)
Thanks.

I'm still on my large section render. but I'm not so sure its RAM issue, I monitored RAM usage throughout the render. it stayed on 1 (out out 2) the whole time. after light cache stage max went to "prefiltering light cache"
still ram on 1, and Handler exception:
If I click save on exit and render with max's button, will still be using SR to some extent? or is this a good test?
I'll try to lower the resolution tomorrow since I'm starting to get short on time (!) and render through max but I'm starting to feel real anxious...

hi Again, Avi,
for sure it looks like a ram issue..
I'm still on my large section render. but I'm not so sure its RAM issue, I monitored RAM usage throughout the render. it stayed on 1 (out out 2) the whole time. after light cache stage max went to "prefiltering light cache"

hi again, Avi,
i've tried a 12800*9600 render on an heavy scene here, and it runs fine (max VFB)
did you tried the /3G ? nothing better ?
you can try the little and free soft named : freeramXPpro to monitor you free ram with high precision

Ya I did,
As I said I don't know if its a ram problem since my commint charge doesn't spike at all..
the error happens between phases something is going wrong in between operations.
what does that code mean to you? is it still a memory problem for sure?
Right now I'm using blowup (didn't know about that..) to render in smaller parts but using this method I notice SR's gamma correcting (or other color correction) isn't taking into account & the outcome looks pretty bad, right now I don't have a choice and I'll photoshop it, but is there a way to use blowup or split render without lossing some SR settings?
Thanks,
Avi.

Avi, as i said i just can't reproduce the error here, even in the biggest res available in SR (12800*9600) with 12GB RAM.
so i guess it's ram issue... when i had 2GB ram, i've had same problems than yourself, even without SR.
have your tried to use the apply lights + applymats + apply SR to vray on exit, closed SR and rendering without SR ?
I'm sorry, i just try to find a way to solve your problem
